I'll first explain what's so different about the "fighter pro only" games. These games have their rom on another location than normal games. Normaly the game rom is placed in the SNES memory map on address $008000-$00ffff, $018000-$01ffff, $028000-$02ffff and so on upto $3f8000-$3fffff for 16 MBit games. This is offcourse where the SMC has it's RAM. These new games have their rom on the address $400000-$5fffff, so all 16Mbit in one big block of memory, where the SMC cannot find it and where the SMC has no RAM. I will call these games "high-rom" games. With the fix i'm about to describe you can play all new games that won't work on your magicom, unless they have a DSP offcourse (Mario kart and pilot wings). Offcourse you still can play all normal (low-rom) games on a fixed copier! Also, the games need to be converted a little to be able to play them with the fix. You need some sort of program that will load the games to HighRom. I have included in this archive a modificated SMC-DOS which does this. (By the way, this fix does exactly the same as the SUD expansion, but this fix is cheaper but you need to be handy, the dos included will also load highrom games to a magicom with the SUD expansion, so use this dos, and don't spread all those games again! that's LAME) Okay now for the fix itself. The schematic design of the fix is included as an IFF file in the archive. Have a look at it. What you must buy for the fix: 1 74LS02 ic 1 74LS04 ic 1 74LS08 ic a piece of experimentation board to solder the ic's on a piece of wire to solder to the magicom and on the ic's Now build the circuit as shown in the iff file. Be sure to do it correct! When you are finished with that, you should have a piece of exp.board with 8 wires comming from it. These wires should be connected to your magicom. Now look at the connector that goes into your snes. It's actualy three connectors, two little ones and one big one in the middle. Now if you count the connections on the big connector only like this: (looking at the bottom of the SMC, so the side where you can't see the ic's) ^ Connector side 46 45 44 43 ................................ 27 26 25 24 -------------------------------------------------------- 23 22 21 20 ................................ 04 03 02 01 v Front side Then you must connect the board you made to the following pins: Vcc -> 46 A22in -> 35 A21in -> 34 A15in -> 28 GND -> 24 First of all, trace the A22, A21 and A15 lines on the SMC-PCB and write down to which pin of which IC they are connected, then destroy the connection. Jup, lines A22, A21 and A15 should not be connected to that ic anymore. Now solder the Vcc, A22in, A21in, A15in and GND wires of your own made circuit on the connector to the snes, and solder the A22out, A21out and A15out wires of your circuit to the ic where the original A22, A21 and A15 were connected. On my supercom.pro 2 it is on the 68 pins ic directly to the right of the connector, on the following pins: A21 A22 \ / ...o.o... ........... .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. Bottom view! A15-o. .. .. .. ........... ......... When all this is done, you should be able to play the highrom games!! Turn on your snes. If your copier reports 24MBIT ram instead of 16MBIT then the fix is successful! (Yup.. because the copier just checks how far the ram continues, it sees part of it double because of the fix. This is no problem at all). If you see another ram size then check your circuit! Okay, I know this text is not really very clear, but it's the best I could do! If you don't understand this then don't try to build the fix! You will only blow up your SMC and maybe even your SNES, so be careful! This fix works 100% for me, I have been playing highrom games for over a week now! I hope it will work for you aswell. But I can take no responsibility for anything you do to your SMC! I can only say: Be careful!... If you have any questions about this fix call my board and just me! Fix made and text written by Aragorn/Vision.
