WHAT IS IT?
  Esplit is a utility for analyzing, splitting and saving samples from
the .WAV files created by the soundtrack cd-grabber 'cdgrabp.exe'.

WHAT DO I NEED?
  Standard stuff + like 8 megabytes of free memory when windows is
loaded + the program cdgrabp.exe.

WHAT DOES IT DO??
  All of you musicians out there that have those outrageously expensive
sample-cd's (audio) at home, and are fed up with:

* Finding the god damn CD.
* Finding the booklet!
* Finding the right sample!
* Pressing the 'next track' button 50 times.
* Sampling the sample.
* The noise!

..all you have to do is get the 'cdgrabp.exe' program and load the tracks
onto your beloved harddisk.. right! Great! NOW, there are almost as many
problems:

* You might not have enough memory on your soundcard to load the tracks!
* You have to do the shitty work of cutting the samples out manually, and
  noone does this volunteerly! :)

Now, Esplit solves these problems.
  It processes the tracksamples by finding, cutting and saving the
different samples and puts them into directories so they will be easy
to find! You can do this manually or just let Esplit process all the
tracks automatically and within seconds, your harddisk is filled with
a few thousand nicely cut samples!

So, just load it, love it, or keep reading to find out how to use the
program (recommended).

ALRIGHT, WHAT IS ALL OF THIS?
  Well, I assume that you've already grabbed the tracks and put them in
some directory. If not - do it!

For all tracks, 22kHz, 8-bit monosamples (recommended), do this:

cdgrabp d: -2 -8 -m -G WAV

..or if you'd only like a single track add the tracknumber at the end.

Back to Esplit.
If you don't want to mess around with extra features, just leave the
presets the way they are except for some things:

* Set the 'sourcedirectory' to the directory where your 'trackXX.wav'
  files are located.
* Set the 'destinationdirectory' to whereever you may want the
  trackdirs containing the extracted samples to be found.
* Set 'start track' to the tracknumber you'd like to process.
* Set 'end track' to the tracknumber you'd like to be the last one.
* Enable 'automode'.
* Simply press the 'automode' button, and here we go! In a few seconds
  the operation is finished, and off to the synth/soundcard/whatever!

OK, BUT I WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT THE OTHER THINGS FEATURED!

Some short explanations:

Noise   : Maximum amplitude to be considered being noise.
Silence : The number of bytes with lower amplitude than 'noise', that is
          the indication of 'end of sample'.
Minimum filesize : Samples smaller than this will not be saved, so you
          don't get a lot of 40 byte click samples.. This can be altrered
          manually by setting the 'save?' checkbox.
